Ise
Pearl is a 60ft Topsail Ketch
Ise Pearl,
named after the Japanese pearling
town "Ise" famous for the
cultured pearl industry, built in
1956 by Charlie Crowley to a design
of Norman Wright in Brisbane. She
was worked and owned by Japanese pearlers
for 38 years. Pearling in the Torres
Straight before being discovered in
poor condition by Warren 'Sparrow'
Burlon. The
skipper 'Sparrow' has spent most
of his life at sea and is a fully
qualified traditional wooden boat
builder. So he has restored Ise
Pearl to near perfection. Every
thing on Ise Pearl was skillfully
crafted to the classic beauty of
a bygone era in Australian maritime
history. Ise Pearl still to this
day has pearl shells wedged between
some of her timbers.
