Mooring
Information
Mantaray Bay offers some of the best underwater scenery in
the Whitsundays and is a favourite spot for diving and snorkelling.
Anchoring in the bay is prohibited. There are a number of public
moorings. Do not secure a yacht to the brown (dinghy) moorings;
they are not designed for such duty. Not a good overnight spot.
General Information
Mantaray Bay is the best-protected diving anchorages on Hook Island.
Dive and snorkel over interesting terrain and reef life. Fish can
be hand-fed. Best diving is from a boat, although there is access
from an attractive beach. Mantaray bay slopes gently from the shore
to 27m with bommies rising from a level of 9-12metres.
